>Someone is excited for St. Patrick’s Day. She randomly found these in her bin O’ stuff and brought them to me excited and demanding “on!” (do we see a pattern of bossiness here?)
>Now, this is not something I should be proud of, but it’s 9am and my child is still happily in her crib cuddled up and lazily rolling around on this dreary Wednesday morning. Of course, some of it may have to do with daylight savings and she thinks it’s only 8am, but the last few days have been great to sleep in till 8:30 and get a few things done before breakfast time. I keep saying I’ll get up and run, but what the heck, Boo and I need some lazy days too right?
I think Bean could stay in there lounging all day and I wouldn’t blame her one bit. I only wish I could hop in there with her.
>John insists she pulled this out of his drawer all by herself and promptly demanded “shirt on”…
>
>Bean has a new fascination with shoes. She insists that we wear slippers at all times and often wakes up yelling “slippers on!”…and will be sure to remind us if we have forgotten ours.
>3 1/2 to go!
>Since being home full time, John has enjoyed a new routine of putting Bean down each evening. My new favorite routine is turning on the monitor and eavesdropping on their final moments of the day (maybe this is wrong?).
His immense love for her is apparent in the way he reads her books (often the same book 3-4 times, each with the same enthusiasm), sings sweet songs as they rock, and reminds her that she’s loved as he lays loud smooches on her over and over again throughout it all. I listen and find myself falling in love with that man all over again every night.
>So we decided to keep our top names top secret this time around, but Bean must have her say…so the other day, she was sitting on my lap facing “sister” giving tickles (cutest thing ever, which I’d tape if it didn’t mean posting my bare belly for all to see) and I went through a list of names we like. I cracked up as she either laughed “yes” or frowned “Boo”. Still not sure if she was saying boo to the name or whether she believed that Boo was a better name than the one proposed. Either way, she was simply adorable…already looking out for her little sister.
>Ok, well, not ever. But at least since I’ve been big and preggo. In fact, had the treadmill not maxed out at 60 minutes, I could have kept going. I barley felt like I was running. Nothing hurt, my lungs were clear, and despite the boredom of staring out the same window at the same parked cars for an hour because my earphones wouldn’t work with the TV, it was one of those runs I won’t soon forget!
In typical dork fashion, I had to memorialize the moment (thank you iPhone). Not a PR by any stretch, but I’m proud of myself today nonetheless…
And on another bright note for today, Bean didn’t even shed a tear as I left her in the big kids play room while I went to run. She’s been in a fantastic mood all morning and we even laughed so hard during lunch that we almost simultaneously spit out our food. Man do I love that little Bean.
>
As for me, I’m feeling great. Up quite a few (or more) pounds at almost 24 weeks, but trying not to stress about it. Still physically feel wonderful so trying to focus more on that. I am still able to run 15-20 miles a week, but that’s been closer to the 15 mark as of late and I’m warming to the idea of mixing it up with some fast walking as things start to feel a bit heavier…but I’m committed to staying as active as possible for as long as possible. This pregnancy feels so much lighter (for lack of a better word) than the one with Kennedy and I attribute 75% of that to working out…and the other 25% to now having a much less stressful life being at home with my Bean!
We changed the bedding in Boos room. We are now going with a lavender and white stripe and polka dot theme. I have stuff piling up and hopefully we can order her crib by next week so we can really start putting things together.
I can’t believe I’ll be 6 months pregnant next week. The time has flown…yet somehow, Spring is still not here. How does that work?
>Note the hard work on her Irish accent…
>First, I don’t watch TV while I run at the gym. Not sure why, but music suits me better. However, there must have been something pretty incredible on the Today Show as the three people next to me gasp in shock and shake their heads grumbling. Curious Georgina herself has to crank her neck to try and see what happened and almost slipped off the treadmill completely. Smooth Dania…real smooth. Ding dong–there is a baby in your belly you may need to be concerned about.
Then, I get a frantic call from my neighbor asking if I meant to leave my garage door open. Um, no, did I really do that?! This was at 11am. I left my house at 8.
And to top off our morning, while trying to give the Bean her independence as we shop in Target, she goes charging ahead of me full force, only to go spilling to the ground moments later. I hear a sickening “bonk” followed by her sad, oh too sad, sobs. She’s now left with a small indentation in her head before it puffs up and turns blue. Thank god she’s a tough girl and a sip of my new favorite Starbucks strawberry/banana/chocolate vivanno (no, I did not give her coffee), she is happy as could be and off running again. Though I didn’t let her out of my reach and it took us 30 minutes to get 2 items.
I’m beginning to think that I should put both of us in a padded room until my pregnancy brain subsides.
Luckily, she’s in her crib, safe and sound (despite the baseball forming on her head). Nothing was stolen from the house and I am going to lay my crazy butt on the couch until further notice.
>Things we learned about Bean this evening: She loves pesto and caesar salad. She may never eat bread again without having it first dipped in olive oil. And she can make it through over an hour of being strapped in without throwing a fit or insisting on runing around like a crazy lunatic.
Thanks Bean for a great Saturday night out!!
>
With a little (or lot) of help from Mommy…success!
>AKA, Toddler Tales (through no fault of Rachel’s). We’ve been trying to get there for a month now with Rachel and Molly so we were super excited. This is what high expectations leads to:
We did, however, have a sweet moment of playing Ring Around The Rosey where they both seemed to be enjoying themselves…
The day ended with Kennedy dumping an entire cup of juice all down the front of her and screaming almost the whole way home.
Happy Friday!!
>
>I just have to say that our little girl is officially a GIRL. This past week, she’s started sqealing whenever she gets excited. These adorable high pitched girly sqeals…she disrupted the old timers pool workout with them today and proudly sqealed again at the wiggles tonight. It’s so adorable and I can’t help but crack up even though I should probably be teaching her to use her “inside” voice.
Oh well, sqeal away cutie pie.
>Things have been very busy and I’ve been bad about updating! Week four of being home and still loving every second! She is an absolute blast and we are quickly settling into a routine.
Mondays are YMCA days and I reward her for being so good in day care by swimming after I am done running. This morning was the first day she only cried for a brief moment when I left and I even left her in the big kids room! I peeked in a few times and she looked like she was having a blast with the other kids so…big sigh of relief!!
Tuesdays we often play with Rachel and Molly and it’s been eye opening to see my child steal other kids food right out of their hands! We really need to work on the sharing thing…big time. Who’s kid is this stealing food?!
Wednesdays we have swim class. I’m a little bummed because I had hoped to meet some other moms and kids and so far, it’s been us and the teacher (except for one other class when 1 mom showed up). Boo hoo. Oh well, it still gets her in the pool and that’s all she really cares about!
Thursdays are a toss up day. Sometimes we hit the gym in the morning and she plays in the day care while I run for an hour and then we run some errands. I usually feel bad she hasn’t had any super fun time with me so I often stop and get her fry fries from MickyD’s on the way home. I’m such a sucker.
Fridays we try to swim in the morning and hit the library for story time with some friends. One of these days, we’ll get over the Toddler Tales and check that out.
Busy weeks! The afternoons are quiet…nap and then play time at home until Daddy gets home.
Tomorrow we are off to the Tiny Tots Tea Room (I hear they have food). I promise to take pictures of her and her little friends to post tomorrow!
As for Boo (who I don’t want to leave out), things are going great! She’s active and has recently decided it’s fun to kick at my bladder when I run (fun stuff). I think she may be making her own treadmill in there. I’m getting bigger and just realized yesterday that I don’t yet have a picture of my growing belly (that I’d be willing to share with the public) so I’ll work on posting a baby bump picture as well. I’m hoping to keep things under control this time (like, less than 50 pounds) so it’s all healthly(ish) food and exercise for me and the Boo! I also realized this week that I have run over 250 miles since I’ve been pregnant, so regardless of what happens, I can’t say I didn’t try! 20 weeks down, 20 to go…
>
While we wanted to know right away, we didn’t want to know in the ultrasound room since there were so many other things going on that were more important to pay close attention to. So I made up these corny little notes and had the ultrasonographer check the correct one. Then we sped across the street like crazy people and into Starbucks to open the results. We couldn’t be happier and I am so excited that Kennedy will get to not only get to be a sister, but have one herself!!
>Bean got her first official “hair cut” on Saturday up at Snip Its in Clifton Park. I use quotations because the woman barley took off enough to put in a baggie for us to take home. I just wanted it cleaned up and maybe help the mullet look grow in a little bit. I didn’t cry…and neither did she! She insisted on sitting on my lap though and as you can see from below, she was more than a bit skeptical about the whole thing…
>
All in all, a great day!
>While she’s always been gracious in giving out hugs when we asked for them, up until this weekend, she had never asked for them herself. On Saturday while we were playing in her room, she ran over to me with this adorable smile, held her arms out and said “hug?” and jumped into my arms for the best bear hug ever. My heart totally melted. Plus, she’s taken quite a liking to the “baby in mommy’s belly” (lets hope she feels the same when he/she comes out crying). She loves to cuddle up to my belly and give big kisses and hugs to the baby. Here is a quick shot I attempted to get of her adorableness this weekend…
>So far, so good! I’ve been horrible about pictures which I swore I wouldn’t do, but as things settle down, I promise to be better with the camera.
Monday…day 1 – bean woke up around 7:30, we ate breakfast and started to head to the Y for some friend and swim time. Lucky for me, my husband taught me the value in the 6 Ps and I called ahead to reserve her a spot. No spots and no shallow end free swim! Not a good start to our quality time. So instead, we headed up to Tumbling Tykes to play. She had a good time despite most of the kids being older than her and me feeling like a fish out of water. We’ll try again next week!
Tuesday…day 2 – stopped into visit her old day care friends. Yup, just couldn’t stay away! She loved seeing her old teachers and friends. However, she started to cry when she sat down to eat peaches and clearly thought I was leaving her. She quick recovered and it was great to be able to stay and watch her play for once!
Today…day 3 – swim lessons! She should have been born a fish. She loves the water so I’m pumped we were able to get into this class even if it’s just us and two other kids. It’s a good structured class and she loved it! However, when I went to drop her off at the Childrens Corner afterwards so I could go for a run, she started hysterically crying…sobs like I have never heard from her before (I’m beginning to see a trend). It was heartbreaking so I ended up spending the next 40 minutes playing with her in the room until she broke away from me to play with the other kids and was ok seeing me leave. It was so weird to see her like that twice this week since she’s never been a particularly clingy kid.
Tomorrow…back to the Y for some more play time and then some errands.
Friday….swimming with Keegs and then either library or gym time.
Mornings are our out and about time. Usually head out around 9 or 9:30 and back home just in time for lunch…down for a nap from 1:00 to 3:30 or so (my domestic time). Snack time and then play until we hear the garage door open and the dadda chant begins!
It’s so fun to spend so much time out and about with her. I never realized how little I saw her interactions with other children…sharing toys (or not), taking turns on the slide, playing hand in hand with them, etc. I’m so glad that I am there to see her learn and help shape her values and how she sees the world. What an awesome responsibility!
3 days down and…well…a lot to go! John has the official count no doubt.
>
>Who knew that this pregnancy, rather than craving ice cream, peanut m&ms and green milkshakes, I’d actually crave fruits and veggies. I guess it helps to set a good example…
>Christmas was an exciting time this year! Bean still doesn’t get the concept, but she does understand presents! I think our expectations for her level of understanding were a bit high and we underestimated her ability to still become overwhelmed easily. What I failed to realize is that she wasn’t interested in tossing each toy aside to open a new one, but rather wanted everything “open da” (aka, open this) immediately. She lost interest in opening presents after the first few. I’m glad we put a few things under the tree unwrapped so she could just go at them. A few things we thought she’d love, she wasn’t so into. We thought she’d go crazy for the Elmo Live, but I think she was confused as to how he got out of the TV and into our living room so quickly…and she just stared at him with this puzzled look. Now though, she does like putting him in her stroller and wheeling him around the house. She loves her baby sleepy Sara doll and it’s given me great insight as to how she’ll behave with a new baby. I just hope she doesn’t attempt to poke out newbies eyes the way she has Baby Sara’s…haha. Believe it or not, it’s two days past Christmas and she still hasn’t opened all her presents.
Though I took over 250 pictures in two days (no wonder there is only this one with me in it), I’ll only post a few of my favorites from the holiday!
>A little more cramped this year, but I actually have found it to be quite cozy! Bean has already broken over 5 ornaments…smashing a few together and ripping off the legs of a poor unsuspecting zebra…
And yes, I’m just dorky enough to put up an extra stocking for the baby in my belly….and of course, Bean has two. Her “Bean” stocking from the year I was pregnant (see? dorky…) and her official enormous one with her real name on it…which is Kennedy by the way. I guess it’s rare I actually refer to her by her given name on here. I always use it when talking to her, but never talking about her. I wonder why I do that…
>So we all know the Bean likes to eat. This weekend was no exception. She not only consumed an entire piece of adult sized pizza, but oddly enough, not just one, but rather almost two whole pickles.
Ps. How hot is the mullet she’s currently sportin’?
>I love my new camera…haven’t quite figured out how to use it just yet, but even being a total rookie, I’ve already captured those baby blues like never before!
Hopefully, my new camera will encourage me to update the blog much more often. If anyone has any good tips on how to use my new Rebel EOS XTi, please, pass them along!
>This is the new word that Bean uses for everything. For the life of me, I can’t understand what she’s trying to say, but she seems to use it anytime she wants anything, like when she’s dragging one of us to the fridge for the 15th time in a 5 minute span simply to poke around and see if just maybe there is something new that wasn’t there 10 seconds ago (usually not). I’m hopeful that she can someday expalin what this means, but for now, I’ll just dub it as “I want that”. She is without a doubt, my child.
>
So the bath was the only place I could get her to sit still for long enough to catch her talking on video…
We’ve taught her a few essential signs like “please”, “thank you”, “more” and “milk”. I can’t resist her little “please”. It may be the cutest thing she’s done thus far…
>Despite getting some really bad news at work the day before my birthday, my little Bean kept me in good spirits by running into the bedroom on my birthday saying “mamma, up!”. Then while we were downstairs, brought me a birthday card and handed it to me and said “happy!”. Could she be any cuter??
My planner of a husband had a whole big deal planned in giving me my present, but as things often go, they didn’t…Either way, when I walked over to where my phone usually rests, I instead found this:
Oh dear iphone, how I have longed for you…
Oh yeah, and Aunt Chick had these sent to my office the day before my birthday. Needless to say, not single strawberry saw it till Novebmer 21st.
>I don’t know why I feel that I can’t write on this unless I have a hallarious picture to post. I should be better at just documenting some memories as they pass me by even if I don’t have a picture to share.
Yesterday was a big day for me. I gave work my notice and as of January 8, 2009, I will officially be a stay at home mom. I can’t wait to be home with my Bean every day and share all the fun things we plan to do! We’ve got swimming at the YMCA, book time at the Library, Toddler Tales and Tumblin’ Tykes! We are going to have a blast!!
Thank you John for being such a huge supporter of this decision, Bean and I love you very much!!
Other news….Bean is talking. Well, not necessarily words, but she tries really hard! She has some favorites that she’s gotten really good at. Cheese is her number one favorite word and she always runs to the fridge when we get home and points to it and in an adorable little voice, yells “cheese!”. And Dog of course…she loves pointing to Bailey and all of her stuffed dog. We’ve named her baby doll “Anna”. I have to get video of her saying this because it’s just simply the cutest way ever to say Anna….her newest thing is “please”. Anytime she asks for something, we say “what’s the magic word?” and she screams “please” at the same time rubbing her tummy to sign it as well. She’s gotten great at signing and saying the word (“more” is another one she’s awesome at). She’s getting so big and learning so much. I can’t believe how much fun she is!
I’ll try to get some good video of her and post it soon. It’s much cuter to watch than read!
>Bean had so much fun on Halloween! Thursday was the day care parade. She started off in a stroller and then being the big girl she is, had to walk with all the big kids…but of course, kept turning and trying to run the other way. She marches to the beat of her own drum these days! Here are a few of our favorites from Halloween 2008!
Then curious…
And soon Miss Independent wouldn’t even hold my hand…
Must refuel after that long parade!
Then off to the Smileys for some Halloween fun!
Long day….sleepy bee.

So I have a need to memorialize this for myself. After running pretty regularly for over a year, I finally headed out to reach the 10 mile goal I set for myself months ago…
Pros:
Cons
Despite the cons, I think all I need is a new pair of kicks, upgraded stretching exercises and another hour and a half to hit the pavement again. Maybe a marathon isn’t so out of the question afterall.
My love for running was definitely renewed this weekend…
>
Then it was donut time!
Bean quickly warmed up to the idea of sugar…
She adored the sheep!I LOVED this guy. Coolest looking cow ever. Except when he swung his head and almost clocked Bean in the eye with his horn.
One of the firt official heart attacks I’ve had since she’s been born.Duh…should have read this first huh?
Awesome Friday.
Balloon festival pictures to come. It was one of the first big outings we did with her last year when she was only 3 months old so it was very cool to attend one of our first repeated traditions with her. She definitely enjoyed it much more this year (despite the terrible traffic)!
>
Mom, you said 1 minute….let’s go!
But the ocean is more fun.
C’mere wave…I’m gonna catch you! Oh well, seaweed works just as well.
Sea shells are the coolest thing ever (next to seaweed)! I want them ALL Why thank you daddy…
Yikes…super windy!
Oh yeah baby…we need one of these at home
Dudes, how did you bust my tire?
I can’t believe I have to fix this for you…
Is this really our last sunset??
So this is what y’all do when you put me to bed…
Mommy…are you really eating all that ice cream? Dude…
Nothing better than the beach…except maybe daddy’s company there.
My very first time in the water…I think mommy was more worried about me than I was!
Of all the toys, I think I enjoyed this one the most…
Mwah!
>So it’s not great video, but she is doing this new thing where she throws herself back onto the floor. She thinks it’s the most hysterical thing she’s ever done. She now thinks it’s fun to try this while taking a bath at night. The further she falls, the harder she laughs. I don’t get it.
