>I am still amazed how fast Bean is growing these days. She’s learning something new every day. She’s also quite the daredevil. She wants to climb on and in everything she possibly can. This weekend, she found the magazine rack amusing. I’m not sure why we bother buying her toys…

>Whoopsie!

>So I didn’t originally plan to post this as I feel like a horrible mother when I watch it, but knowing that she was just fine makes it ok to laugh at it (I think). I’m clearly still learning what “age appropriate” means. I think I’ll start believing what the box says…

>Good luck Ashley!

>It’s a sad day. It’s Kennedy’s last day with one of her favorite people. Ashley has been her teacher since she started day care back in January and it wasn’t long before Bean was in love…maybe it’s because Ashley always gave her peaches first thing in the morning, but more likely because Ashley is one of the sweetest people I’ve met in a long time and it is clear that she adores little Bean (even through all her grumpiness). She’s starting her first year as a teacher this fall and although we will miss her greatly, we wish her all the best! Her kids don’t yet know how lucky they are!

>

Our weekend was quiet, but fun…

Bean received her first flower from a boy at the Control Tower on Saturday. About 30 years earlier than I would have liked, but he was a very sweet boy…It must have been the ice cream smeared all over her face that sucked him in.

We learned how to climb up the slide instead of falling down it…

Daddy taught Bean how to play fetch with Bailey. Bailey officially is in love with her now…

And we topped it all off with a dip in Bubble’s pool on Sunday. Our little water baby loves to swim. Only problem is now she’s frustrated she can’t do it on her own. She kept trying to wiggle out of daddy’s hands the whole time…Who could ask for a better relaxing weekend?!

>Sugar Rush

>

Mmm, what are these?!
Lets find out!
Whoa baby! I don’t get these at home! Now lets watch the horsies!
And run around!!

So I forgot to post, but we went to the track for breakfast two Friday’s ago and Bean LOVED her Pops. Being up there early is so nice. It’s quiet and Bean loved to watch the horses train. The track is much more fun with her now!

>She’s finally mastered how to climb up the back of the swing set…now if she could figure out the right way to go down…

Something changed in her this past weekend. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but it’s almost as if she grew up a ton in a matter of days. She has always been a very content baby, but over the weekend, she seemed almost giddy. I think with every step towards greater independence, she becomes more of a little person with a huge personality. We were in the car and got her some fries on Sunday while she was napping. When she woke up and saw that we had fries for her, she giggled uncontrolably for a good 10 minutes…something she hadn’t really done before unprovoked by tickling or chasing. I had tears in my eyes from laughing along with her. I don’t think there is any sound better than that of your child laughing…I know it sounds terribly cliche, but it’s so very true.

>Track Day

>Bean’s first time at Saratoga Race Track! And of course, it’s raining, but only for the first hour we were up there. The weather ended up being really nice the rest of the day…not too hot, which was key!

No matter how hard we tried to get her to watch the horses, she was much more intruiged by all the people…She wanted to do lots of walking…she looks so tiny in a crowd.
Then got all shy and cuddled up to daddy…
Then out on the prowl again!
It was a long day for poor Bean, but she was sure to get a nap in nonetheless!
I love when we get out and about on days like this. I wish the weather had been nicer, but all in all, we can’t complain. We even came home a few (very few) dollars richer! Bean must be our good luck charm!

>Eyes…

>I think Bean may have learned her first word – eyes! How random…

>This one is for you Aunt Chick–I wish I had gotten this on video the first time she did it, but I was laughing too hard and she lost some of her enthusiasm the 5th time around…no curly hair yet, but hope you’ll find this heartwarming nonetheless:

>New Friends…

>

Meet Alice. Alice loves food, kids and kisses
If Alice could have fit in my trunk, she’d now be living in my backyard…she was awesome.
I think it’s possible I loved Alice even more than Bean did.Meet Emu Linus. We have matching hairdos these days.
And finally, meet Cosmo. I think if Bean could have smuggled him home in her hat, he’d now be living with us as well.
She refused to let go of his hand and squealed with delight when he held hers back.
How awesome is Tony the Turtle?
Bean had the time of her life…and the day wasn’t even over yet!
We hung out in Saratoga for a while…
And finished off the day trip with a ride on the Carousel

It was great to get out for the day and take a nice long drive…Bean crashed hard on the way home from way, way, way too much fun. I love that she’s at the age we can do so many fun things with her now! I feel like I laughed most of the day, and it’s been a while since I could say that. God I love that kid of ours.

>Picnics

>Last week was a whirlwind of activity….we had two picnics to attend and Bean had a blast at both.

We tried our hand at finger painting again at John’s work picnic…not so bad this time.
At least no tears were shed!
Had lots of fun running around in the grass…
And most of all, topped it off with some ice cream!!
The next night, day care held their carnival and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Bean smile the way she did in the bouncy bounce. I’m now tempted to get one for our backyard. It’s not only entertainment for her, but it does a hell of a job on your calf muscles!
We ate and played and then snuggled into daddy as we headed home for bed…
As much as she loves to be out and about during the week, she has a very sensitive bed time schedule and has no trouble letting us know when it’s past 7pm and she wants to get to sleep. Hmmm, I wonder who she takes after in that regard??

>Fraggle Rock!

>My parents and John have gotten me the first 3 seasons of Fraggle Rock recently and I can’t even begin to tell you how flippin’ excited I am to sit and watch these with Bean. She’s only half interested now, but I’ll have her hooked before long…

>Vacation prep…

>

I’m having flashbacks to finger painting…
Um, dude–it’s sticking to my hand.
Tell me what I’m suppose to do with this!!
Ok, nevermind…what else is there fun to do?
I’m outta here, but I’m taking my shovel with me.
We’ll try again soon.

Ps. When did she turn totally blonde? It’s freaking me out…I barley recognize her these days.

>This is how I roll…

>

I couldn’t have set this up more perfectly had I tried. I turned around from the kitchen and saw proud Bean mount the puppy looking very pleased with herself. Thank god Bailey is a Saint and tolerates such abuse…

>Hugs!

>

So I know for many, this probably isn’t a big deal since they’ve been getting hugs from day one. But from my fiercely independent one who refuses to cuddle or be rocked to sleep anymore, I was uber excited when she decided she wanted to start giving out hugs even if they are placating and brief in nature and mostly directed at the pup.

>

Is it still my birthday?!

>My Birthday Party!

>

Is it my big day yet?!

Yippee! Ok daddy…I’m ready for my cake!

Wow–Grandap…you made that just for me?!
Mommy…you’re actually going to allow me to get messy?!
Let me at it! Where is my shirt?!
Oh yeah, I smeared cake on it…whoopsie.

Long day momm…I want my bed!! So cozy on the pillow and quilt Grammy made just for me…

>Chicago!

>Chicago was a blast. Trying and definitely a learning experinece, but one we’d definitely do again. Bean was awesome….

She helped me pack…

She sat through her very first 2 hour plane ride…We shopped!
and we ate…
We visited the massive Bean (how could we not?!)
played in the fountain. How neat…

We learned out to climb on our table rather than play with it…

We visited the zoo…lions, tigers and bears, oh my!

Picked weeds in the garden… Went home sleepy and happy….

Bean learned so many new things on this trip it was amazing. She officially became a walker. Just let go of my hand like she’s been doing it for years. She also learned how to stand up all by herself. All just a few days shy of her first birthday. My baby girl is all grown up!

>

I love the expression on her face in this picture.
She’s got such a kick ass little personality these days.

>Daddy’s Day!

>

Lets open presents!
Whoah! You’re gonna love this.
I think this is more fun for me than you!
Oh yeah, this is the life…
Somebunny loves their daddy…
It was a great day all in all. In addition to all the fun we had, Bean also has become quite the walker. I wish I had the camera when she left my side to walk to daddy and stopped along the way to pick up a toy and continued on without falling. I’m told this is a wonderful milestone for her. Makes me realize how much we take for granted!
Happy Fathers Day!

>Waffles

>

Seriously mom? What am I suppose to do with this?!
Hey this works!
Your turn!
All done!I officially ate too much. Ugh.

>Summer Heat

>

We just wanted to test the new pool out so we just put her feet in, but my little water baby dove right in after her ducky…

>Freihofer’s

>

Good luck mommy!
Hmmm, you weren’t gone very long…did you even run?
Hi daddy!
It’s fun acting like tourists in our States Capital…
So even though it threatened to rain all morning (and around mile 2 I wished it would), it held out and ended up being a nice day for a race (despite the high wind). I set a new PR for myself at 25:50 so I was happy (especially given the crowd I had to fight through mile 1). Not that it’s anything compared to the winner who strolled in at 15:46…
Bean is such a sweetie being patient with me and keeping me company on most of my training runs!

>Milestone Weekend

>

Memorial Day weekend quickly turned into milestone weekend instead…
Hmm, can I do it??

Ok, here I come Mommy! 4 whole steps!

I was so excited to walk that I now demand hugs whenever I want!
(but mommy makes we walk to get them)

I am in total control and will now point at everything I want…

Whew, it’s exhausting turning 11 months old. One more month until I’m officially 1 year old!! Wait till you see what I can do then!

>I think we’ll have a walker on our hands before we know it! She took her first “official” step yesterday. She pulled herself up on John’s lap and took one tiny baby step towards me with no assistance. I thought it was a fluke, but she did it again this morning in the bathroom. She refuses to do it on command (surprise, surprise), so I have yet to capture of picture of the moment.

Keep up the good work Beansicle!

>Being a mom has its perks…

>

And it’s called Mothers Day! John and Bean are awesome and I’m lucky to have them both! I couldn’t have asked for a better official first Mothers Day. It was good to have my Bean out of my big ole belly to hug and hold this year!
We started off by buying some new shades.
Officially too cool for school.

Ben & Jerry’s in the park…there’s nothing better!
Except maybe my very first Carousel ride!
I had the time of my life… We spent Saturday afternoon walking the lawns of the Sagamore and had tons of play time with Mommy! It’s Sunday! Happy Mothers Day!
Wake up Mommy!! We’ve got presents for you!!
If you think this is good, wait till you see the David Yurman bracelet daddy got you…
Mommy is off to get her massage.
All that pampering was exhausting…nappy nap time.
All rested….it’s swim time! We cleaned up and went to stuff our bellies full…

We stopped at Mimi and Pops on the way home.
Good thing too since Pop was concerned about my low riders…he fixed me up good. Best. Weekend. Ever.

>Kisses…

>Bean’s learning how to give kisses…right now though, we’re mostly getting head butts instead.

>

It took Bean a while to warm up, but once she realized she couldn’t eat the grass, she had fun playing in it!

>I think we’ll have an early walker on our hands, which is surprising since she did most other things later. She’s clearly making up for lost time. In comes the handy lion…

Here I go mom, are you watching?!

A nice day for a stroll in the bedroom…

Look…one handed!

I’m outta here…

>Bean’s First Run

>So no one warned me how much more difficult it’d be to a) push an extra 20 pounds and b) have limited use of my arms while running. Um, yeah…I thought I was going to die around mile 2. At least the race on Friday should seem like a piece of cake since I’ll be sans Bean.

Of course, I had to take some pictures to memorialize our very first run together…

>Reunion Weekend

>Spring is finally here and we took full advantage of it all weekend long!

We played outside before the trek down to Uncle Bobs

We strolled around Uncle Bob’s gardens and enjoyed the sun…

And practiced walking…
Had some water play time with Daddy…

Sat in the weird chair…

Played with Matzah Man all through dinner…
Slept all day Sunday…

>Matthew

>

Meet Bean’s newest love interest, Matthew (5 days old). I can’t believe how adorable this kid is. I held him for the first time yesterday and teared up just realizing how fast the past 10 months have gone by. I hope he brings as much joy to his parents as Bean has brought to us.

>

Bean officially got over her fear of cheerios. It took us a while to get there…

Ok, yes, I want one please…

Ok, so not what I thought… Will you be mad if I spit it out? Too late…

Mmmm, now this is good.
Next time though, can I get the cream without the ice?
She is officially a Bagyi.

>Race Day

>

Though still somewhat sick, I had waited too long for the 5 miler Delmar Dash. I had both John and Kennedy cheering me on. My goal was to come in under 45 minutes and I happily finished at 42:17. Next year, I’ll aim for under 40. It’s good to have goals…

Go mommy go! Can you teach me now?!

I had to steal this from Chick’s blog and add it. It fits me perfectly…

>Puppy Love

>

So as jealous as poor Bailey is (who turns 5 tomorrow), I think they have a mutual unconditional love for one another…

>We’ve all been through the ringer this last week. Bean got super sick Easter afternoon and a doctors visit revealed a double ear infection that kept her out of daycare for the entire week. I caught the flu (despite my flu shot) on Wednesday and sat my sick butt on the couch for the next 4 days…John joined me on Saturday. We were a pathetic sight. Great for the weight loss plan though. 10 pounds under my goal so I can’t complain much now can I?

I’m slowly getting back up and running (no pun intended) so hopefully I can become a good mother again and start taking pictures of my playful healthy Bean.

Got a big race this weekend in Delmar so I’m praying I’m good enough to run and even get a few training sessions in before it. I’m hopeful for nice weather so John and Bean can actually enjoy being there and watching me. : )

TTFN

>Happy Easter

>

My little Bean is so tough. Despite having a fever and a double ear infection, she was in great spirits all day long. What a trooper. Not surprisingly, regardless of all the books and stuffed animals in her Easter Basket, what does she enjoy most? The plastic eggs that cost all of $1 per dozen. Go figure.

>Impatient Iris…

>

Someone was a little anxious to get up this fine morning. And I wonder why we got our first day care accident report yesterday.
Time to drop the crib once again…

>Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

>

An Irish girls favorite day of the year…

Is there something on my butt?
How frickin’ adorable would this picture be if my camera didn’t suck?!

>Deep End

>Ok, not quite yet, but we’re starting from the beginning.
We had so much fun today!!

>Bean’s Newest Trick

>So in addition to mastering the army crawl last week, this week she’s learned how to sit up all by herself from a laying position. I wake up at 5:45am this morning and look at my tv (which has the Kennedy Show on all night long) to see my little girl sitting up all by herself playing and repeating da-da-da-da over and over. I just laid in bed for the next 20 minutes watching her entertain herself as she laid back down for a bit before going through her adorable clumbsy process of sitting up again.

I’m such a proud mamma today.
