Egg Hunt

Have I mentioned how much I love this neighborhood?  Well, I do.  Like really, really, really do.  They organize an egg hunt for the kids every year at the Farney’s.  It was just too cute for words.  They girls can’t stop asking when Easter will be here again.  :)

Club Brunch

Events at the “Club” are always so much fun. The girls look forward to getting all fancied up and filling their bellies.  They were equally as excited to spend some time with the Easter Bunny up close and personal.  Well, that was until he got TOO up close and personal.  McKenna is a kid who likes her space.  She’s not afraid of much but apparently very large bunnies with no real eyes or mouth does it to her.  We managed one picture with me in it but you can totally see the look of terror on the poor kids face.  Oh well…there’s always next year.  Haha.

“Friends”

Someone really really loves her friends. Every morning, “hippopotamus”, “raffey”, “elfan” and “bailey” get packed into her backpack and join us everywhere we go throughout the day….then make it back into her room at bedtime for snuggles. Love them for making her feel safe and secure. And boy do I love her too. :)

Drama Kid

My littlest little got up on stage again and this time, actually participated and smiled a bit.  I’m one proud momma of my little introvert.  :)

Little fashionista

She was put to bed an hour ago. She was found like this moments ago. Three dresses, two short sleeve shirts, three skirts and a pair of pants.

Oy vey.

Ski bums

One of them wanted to go forever.  One of them did not.  Can you guess which is which?

Rollerama….

Our first ever experience rollerskating was…well…an experience.  Thank god for Miss Brittany.  As you can see from McKenna’s face, she didn’t last very long.  And her only smiles were when she decided to give up and lay down.  She refuses to ever put skates on again.  My theory–the kid hates having anything tied to her feet.  Ice Skating, Skiing and Rollerskating…three things she “doesn’t love”.  Johns theory–she’s lazy.  I think we may both be a little bit right.

Kennedy on the other hand….can’t get enough of it.  :)  And seriously now….could her and Ivy (or IvyY as Kennedy likes to call her) be any sweeter?!?!

Love notes from daddy….

I know if daddy could be home every morning to see the girls off to school he would be.  But on the days he’s can’t, he leaves them notes.  A tradition that started long before the girls were born…I probably have hundreds and hundreds of notes he’s left me in the mornings he would head off to work before I was awake…we’re talking almost 10 years worth.  Now that Kennedy can read, the notes are that much more exciting.  I have no doubt this will be one of those traditions she’ll remember fondly long into adulthood and hopefully carry on with her own children someday.  :)

Moo Moo Cow with the White

Missy Lou Lous LOVES her eggnog (maybe even more than her momma).  And I have no idea where it came from, but it’s only allowed to be referred to as  “moo moo cow with the white”.  Cracks me up.  It’s going to be a sad day in the Bagyi household when it’s officially out of season.

Drama Kid

To try and coax her out of her shell a bit, we enrolled our Bean into Drama Kids a few months back.  They had their first stage performance and for a kid as shy as her, I’d say she did pretty damn awesome.

Snuggles….

I will, without a doubt, cry the first day she refuses to let me rock her to sleep….

Girlfriends

I have 4 VERY adorably happy squealing little girls in my home right now.  :)

Accessories

She’s so all about scarves and hats these days.  Quite proud of her choice of the day.  :)  And the chunk of ice she found that didn’t look “too dirty to eat”.

Hello again Maple Ridge…

Based on the hopes and smiles the first images captured this morning, I’d love to say that our first day back on the slopes was a success …but….there were boot issues, which annoyingly resulted in Kennedy getting moved from Stars back to Tykes…and there was grumpy McGillicutty (visible on bottom right image), who has inherited her mother’s distaste for all things bulky, uncomfortable and frigid, and subsequently held her sad little frozen hand out to me about a zillion times whimpering “mommma…..i want you….” {insert tear here}.  Then proceeded to lay on the ground and consume an insane amount of snow rather than ski.

Despite the setbacks, they both say they want to go back next week.

Phew.

Happy New Year!

I purposely forgot my camera New Year’s Eve.  I instantly regretted it.  It was certainly nice to not have the pressure of getting pictures of everything cute I saw happening (and there was an awful lot of cute), but now I’m sorta sad I don’t have the images to remember the evening by.  Thankfully, we had Courtney fire up the photobooth for one quick shot of all of us at the close of the evening…and grabbed a few bad iphone snaps.  ’twas one of the best New Years I think we’ve had in a long, long time.

I totally love these people.

SNOW!!

The girls had been waiting (and waiting….and waiting…and waiting…) for the perfect snowfall to get out there and enjoy our new yard.  We finally had our very own sledding hill!  Can’t recall the last time they smiled this.  hard.  That is until the snow flew in McKennas face on the way down.  Now she just stays inside “comfy cozy” and watches from the window.  Soooo my kid.  :)

Christmas 2012

Another year comes to an almost close.  Can’t even believe they are 3.5 and 5.5.  Where did the time go??  We had a wonderful Christmas day of lounging around the house in our PJs, more food than our bellies could possibly fit and lots of hugs, love and kisses from those we love the most.

Xmas Eve

Love our Christmas Eve’s.  They are sweet and quiet and full of love.  We’ve started a tradition of the girls exchanging their own personal gifts to each other on xmas eve so the sweetness of it doesn’t get lost in the craziness of Christmas Day.  Kennedy insisted on another build a bear for McKenna and McKenna picked out a pandora necklace with a bunny charm (since the ONLY thing Kennedy wanted for Christmas was a bunny rabbit).

Also, notice the adorable elf pj’s shelfy left as a departing gift.  :)

Santa’s Brunch

What a lovely, lovely morning my little ladies had…filling their bellies and getting a sneak peek of what Santa has in store for them in 16 short days…yay!

Crasher

We’re going through a new phase.  The “I’m scared!” when it’s time for bed phase.  Both girls insist they need a “live” animal in their room to keep them company.  Unfortunately, we have only one dog to go around.  So upon checking on the girls on our way to bed last night, McKenna’s bed was found empty.  I would have freaked except I had a sneaking suspicion where she had gone.  And I was right.

Doozies

I often only post the “good” pics…the funny pics…the pics that tell a story I don’t want to forget.  Sometimes it’s good to show that not all sessions go as planned.

Can’t tell you how tempting it was to use one of the following as our Christmas card this year….

2013-01-21_0005

o’ christmas tree….

Every year we stop end up at at least two different tree farms before I can approve our final pick.  I don’t know why I’m so picky.  You can hardly see the tree once we put our one thousand and one ornaments on it, but I can’t rest until I find one that speaks to me.  I think we did good this year.  :)

Ice Skating :)

First time on ice skates for both ladies.  McKenna fell and giggled more than any other child there…and Kennedy, her normal careful self inched along at a snails pace.  It was really quite the sight…

Recovery….

It was a tough 10 days.  Some days worse than others.  This was one of the better ones.  A little Call Me Maybe on Hello Kitty earphones brought a brief smile to my poor girls face.

Newport

We took a little long weekend trip to Newport the weekend before Kennedy’s tonsillectomy to try and get our minds off of how tough the following week would be.  The weather could not have been any more perfect in November and the girls had a blast between the beach, museum, manis and lots of good food.  And for the first time since she was an itty bitty baby, McKenna crawled in my lap halfway through dinner one night and snored her way through the second half.  :)  I sorta loved every second of it.

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween in our new ‘hood.   Kennedy loved every moment of it.  I tend to think the horse head was too heavy for poor missy lous as she shuffled a few feet behind the other ladies and spent an awful lot of time in my arms.  Which was sorta ok with me.  :)

Bed in a Field Day…

Brought the girls up to my holiday mini session set up in the hopes of grabbing a Christmas card image nice and early this year….I think they had fun.  :)

Best daddy ever

We used to split up and perform our own bedtime routines with the girls, but as of late, they both just want to curl up in their daddys lap and listen to him read book after book.  I love sitting there and just soaking in how very much they love him…and how he loves them back.

Classic Kennedy

It’s faces like this that will at some point be traded for a more mature and grown up expression…so I don’t want to ever forget this goofy little grin that says “huh??”.  I must have said something extra confusingly funny.

Sleeper

This child of ours refuses to fall asleep anywhere but the hall these days.  Tonight, it’s toes…usually, it’s little peek a boo eyes.  We apparently weren’t interesting enough to watch this evening.

Liberty Ridge

It’s an annual thing.  Well…it was.  Until that fiasco about them refusing to allow a gay couple to marry there.  I’m appalled and will never spend another dime there, but the girls had fun nonetheless on a nice Saturday afternoon and long before we learned about their bigotry.  It’s really a shame on so many levels.  The farm is beautiful and they’ve done a wonderful job making it an incredibly good time for the kiddos.  I hope they pull their heads out of their asses….

Best Friends

“Fintin….Tyler…Devon…”.  I hope that I never forget the way she  sing songs their names…or the way she cocks her head to one side and gestures her hands upwards during.  I must get it on tape before she grows out of it.  It’s both awesome and amazing that during two days a week for two hours she’s developed such a bond with these three.  Despite seeing them maybe once all summer, she talks about them like she sees them daily and not a moment has been lost when they all reunite.  The smile on her face in these says it all.

Snippity snip snip

It took only three years to grow enough hair to finally need convince me to cut it.  I’ll admit, it’s a massive improvement.  Suppose I’m holding onto our baby just a teensy bit too tight.

New Friends…

I had four of the happiest little girls on the block in my backyard today.  Cheers to new friends…hip, hip, hippity hop hooray!!

Swing High Babies

One of the ways we sold the new house on the ladies was to promise them one bad ass swingset.  After much deliberation, we finally settled on one…and then learned it’d be 4 weeks before it arrived.  Boo hiss.  Then the day was finally here, yay!!   The swingset dudes set out to set it all up while I watched and worked from my office.  Then I saw them stop and stare.  For like a really long time.  Just staring.  Hmmm, I wondered, what in the world could be the issue?  Then I saw it.  The rock wall being supported by um, 12 small little square wood pieces in order to make it level to the back.  For realzies?  Me thinks not.  So I wonder out.  And was granted the lovely task of coming up with a solution to level the dang thing.  So off I skipped stomped off to Home Depot.  6 lumber boards, a box of deck nails and 12″ of height later, we had a level swingset.  Sorta.  Lets just say I’m happy we know a good landscaper that will be here pronto to level out a new piece of land.  {sigh}.  However,  the squeals that erupted from my two little ladies the second they spotted it was worth every bit of aggravation…and where we saw imperfection, they saw pure joy.  Add it to the forever long list of reasons I freaking love those girls….

Irish Fest

We say every year we’re gonna make it “this year”.  2012 was finally the year we actually made it.  Just a nice fun thing to do on a sunny afternoon.  :)

Silence…

the house is just a tad bit too quiet today.  Can’t believe McKenna is finally old enough to attend brown “all by my big girl”.  Seems like just yesterday I had her on my hip while we walked Kennedy to her class each morning.  She’s beyond excited.  And as such, so am I.

The Big K for K

Has 5 years flown by?  Is she REALLY getting on a bus and leaving us?  I could sit here and reminisce all morning long, but I like to keep things short and simple.  So I’ll simply say that I could not possibly be more proud of her.  I am so crazy thrilled with the young lady she has become…a lady that though timid as all hell, will stick up for what she believes is right, is a total and complete peacemaker amongst even the smallest of arguments, loves every single creature no matter how tiny or “icky” as if they were her own flesh and blood, and who’s compassion for all living things is so overwhelming at times, my heart could just burst.

I miss you like crazy Miss Kennedy.  3:30 can’t come soon enough every day….

Who, might you ask, is she running so excitedly towards?
