>We started an “official” soccer league last week. It’s been interesting to say the least. When we’re not begging Kennedy to stand in line, or listen to her coach, or to come back to the field, she is having a good time. It’s quite adorable really with her enormous shirt and cute little shinguards. It’s hard to be mad at her when she looks this stinkin’ cute.
>Dance Party USA
>Kennedy had finally found her true match in a dancing partner. Kennedy took a long time to get into dancing, but now can’t stop. She cranks up every knob in the house as loud as it’ll go and dances around like a maniac. I love it. And just this week, McKenna has started to follow her lead. Not sure where she picked up this move, but it takes “throw your hands in the air like you just don’t care” to a whole new level.
>Cape Baby, Cape! {updated version}
>I am soooo far behind on the blog and have so much catching up to do. I apologize (to those of you who read this and to my girls who will someday read this)!
Just a quick little bigger set of collages of a few favorites from the trip (as I still am going through all 300+ images). Below you will meet crabby the snail…or maybe that one is Slimey the Dude 24 (I kid you not). Either way, she was facinated by these creatures and gross as they may be, I love her a little bit more for loving them despite their ick factor. She made John search the low tide each and every morning for these slimy “friends”. In fact, in a moment of God’s grace, John stumbled across a land snail the day before we left that now lives in a cozy little cage in the playroom named Babs. It made the tearful goodbye to the sea snails a little less painful for poor little Beansicle.
Some other highlights of the trip, and particurly of Bean’s funnyisms (yep, I made up that word and am pretty proud of it really) included these fine statements:
“clothes are no funny daddy!” {after trying to get the kid dressed for 20 minutes at least}
“Mommy? ‘member when I been in your belly? And I knocked and you pushed me out? That been nice. You’re my best friend.”
…and later followed up that lovely conversation with: “there been toys in there mommy. I think I left a rattle.”
Now this explains EVERYTHING.
God love that kid.
{ps–can’t even begin to imagine where this “been” thing comes from. Neither John nor I ever use it, but it’s in almost every sentence she utters these days…} Silly child.
As for McKenna, she tore around the house like she owned it from day one and ate like a horse. LOVED the water to the point where she didn’t want me holding onto her and wanted to go in head first. Even took a few facefuls of salt water and sook it off like a true Bagyi. As much as I think she had a good time, I can’t wait for next year…and the next year…and the next year as her and Bean grow closer as sisters and friends.
Enough jibberish from me. On to the photos…
>Independence Day
>What a GREAT day we had at Albany Country Club with a few of our favorites…we ate until our bellies were full, laughed until they hurt, danced and then relaxed on the lawn watching some spectacular fireworks. I’ll actually always remember this night as one of the most memorable last moments nursing McKenna. She was startving…silly me didn’t bring a bottle or anything for her to drink out of so we took a little stroll onto the abandoned golf course, parked it under a huge maple tree and nursed while I took in the sunset and had a few moments to just enjoy her to the fullest. What a GREAT day.

>Strawberry Pickin’
>We hit up Bowmans Orchards with the ‘Piro’s the day before McKenna’s birthday. We had a lot to make up for given that we had to bail on them last year so Mckenna could make her way into the world. It was a HOT day, but the girls loved every second and we got some AMAZING strawberries to bring home. Now, I’m no suzy homemaker like Rachel so no jam was found in our home, but I won’t deny the purchase of a little can of whipped cream…
>Splish Splash
>We made the decision last fall to join a country club for a number of reasons. The main one for pool privileges. Lets just say Bean is having the time of her life this summer. We have taken full advantage of both the pool and the slushies at the cafe. Oh, and did I mention they have a tire swing on the playground right next to the pool? I know….it doesn’t get better than this for a 1 and 3 year old.

>Waddle, Waddle
>I’m officially marking today as the day Missy Lou graduated from crawler to waddler. She went from crusing around a room with one hand on something at all times to just letting go and walking her adorable little bum all the way across a room. I’m so very proud. Video to come soon. :)
>No longer a "two"
>Straight out of the mouth of babes…
>Kennedy is just more and more hysterical these days. She busts out with the funniest stuff and makes me belly laugh so much. And she’s so funny when I laugh at her…she gets all shy and gives me this coy smile like “who me??”. It’s awesome. Some of my recent favorites:
{While playing outside on the patio}
Bean: “I’m sorry ants!”
Me: “Why are you sorry?”
Bean: “I stepped on their sandbox.”
{While pulling into MickyD’s for some fry fries}
Bean (referring to the large coffee ad): “Coffee?! Coffee doesn’t live here mommy, it lives at Starbucks!”
This one was John’s pleasure to witness:
{while on the potty}
Bean: “My bum makes lots of music!”
I’m sure there are many, many more and I should get better at jotting them down when they happen so I can be sure to record them here for safe keeping. These are the moments I vow to never forget!
>Everything’s a changin’…
>These past two weeks have been an incredible growth period for McKenna. She went from refusing to even entertain the idea of popping a cheerio into her mouth to gobbling them up along with almost anything else put in front of her.
She went from plopping her bum on the ground to crawl to wherever she wanted to go to actually pulling herself up on something, letting go and walking there with two feet. Yep, I said walking. She’s not great and certainly isn’t keeping up with Bean, but she’s trying. She can take a few steps, stable herself, take a few more…even change direction before plopping down. She sometimes gets a bit excited and goes to fast, with results in a face plant, but she shakes it off like a champ and tries again. I’m so ridiculously proud of her.
She no longer sleeps like a baby. I used to place her in her crib and she’d fall asleep like she always had…flat on her back, hands up by her ears, head turned to the side just slightly. Now, she rolls over, piles up her blankets to create a pillow and plops down face first…like a real person. She squirms all over the crib and can even turn on her aquarium all by herself. I even had to move her monitor because she repeatedly grabbed it from the edge of the crib. I often go in to get her only to find everything from her crib thrown to the floor while she stands there smiling ever so proud.
She’s babbling…she’s saying “dadda”…she’s making great efforts to start signing for “more” and “eat”. She’s a big person now. My infant is gone….and will really be gone in 15 short days when she turns 1. Nursing is the only thing I’m holding onto at this point and even that is slipping through my fingers quickly.
I’m both scared and incredibly excited at the exact same time.

>Proudly Announcing….JMB photo!
>To fill some time while I slept last Saturday morning, John and Bean made brownies and he wanted to snap some pictures of her cuteness. Well, while I have to say I think they look snappy in black and white, they aren’t in black and white for that reason alone. Lets just say white balance isn’t John’s strong suit. Nor is manual mode on my mac daddy camera. So I got quite an earful about how obnoxiously difficult my camera is to use and how unfair it is that I’m the only one who can take decent family pictures, bladdy, blah, blah. So after a week or so of racking my brain on how I’m going to afford to buy him the Canon G11 (which is the “point and shoot” I usually recommend for those looking for a great camera, but not ready for a DSLR) it dawns on me that um, duh…I still have my old Rebel sitting completely idle begging to be used (if only on auto). John is now rocking his very own camera. I think he even moved it to the “P” mode for a few shots. So without further ado, I am proud to officially welcome JMB photo to the blog (with a minor credit to myself for some touch-up edits)…
>No Peanuts for Me
>
So I haven’t blogged about it yet and I’m not sure why…maybe it makes it more real when it’s recorded on paper, but I think it’ll be something I’ll want to look back on in years to come.
Let’s start with this: April 30th was a crappy day. John had a speech he had to give in Cooperstown so we decided the girls and I would tag along and walk around the town while he did his thing. We had a prior suspicion that our little Bean’s body didn’t like peanuts much, but was told by our pediatrician that we should keep trying little bits of it every few months to see if her body would learn to adjust to the protein. My genius self thought the day we were going out of town would be a good day to let her take a bit of my english muffin with peanut butter. No sooner did the peanut butter hit her mouth she was clawing at her mouth and eyes and yelling “yuck!!!”, and within minutes complained of itchy eyes. Well, this was something we had seen before and it always went away on it’s own within 10 minutes so we didn’t react nearly the way we should have and proceeded to get in the car and go about our day. About 20 minutes later in the car, we realized her right eye was swollen almost shut and she was still complaining about her eyes hurting and itching. We pulled over to give her some Benadryl, still not thinking about how bad this could have been and drove on…when the Benadryl hadn’t taken down the swelling even a bit over 45 minutes later we started to panic and called our doctor. Luckily, we were told as long as she was having no difficulty breathing (which she wasn’t) and her mouth/tongue wasn’t swollen, she was probably ok for now, but after a visit to the pediatrician that afternoon, it was suggested that we see an allergist asap. A week later, we did just that (and it was an excruciating week) and learned through a prick test that she was highly allergic to not only peanuts, but tree nuts as well.
Thanks to a serious lack of answers on how her little body would react to even the more minuscule amount of peanut or nut protein, our world has been somewhat been turned upside down by proceeding under the worst case scenario at all times. We’ve emptied and re-filled our cabinets. We’ve been trained (and re-trained) on the use of epi-pens. We’ve learned the ins and outs of reading, interpreting and trusting food labels. We’ve fought with companies over their those same practices. We stress about whether or not her schools can keep her safe. We are trying to figure out how to possibly educate a 3 year old on why she now wears a bracelet and what this why she can no longer eat m&ms among other favorite treats. And most scary, we deal with the intense fear of an unknown cross contamination just about every place we go once we leave the safety of our house.
We are slowly adjusting. Things aren’t the same. They won’t be. Playgroups now scare the crap out of me rather than provide a solitude where she can freely play with her friends. Even shopping carts freak me out. We used to be a pretty spontaneous family and would often head out to dinner wherever our hearts desired. Now, that requires a call ahead to a manager, chef cards, another talk with the waitress and starting intently at her as she puts every bite into her mouth and an overreaction to even the slightest red mark anywhere on her face…I could go on and on. But we are adjusting. And we’re told it gets better. I hope they are right.
>Naptime Silliness
>What I hear almost every day when Kennedy wakes up from her nap:
::::pitter patter into McKenna’s room::::
“McKenna? Are you awake, yes or no? Yes? Ok…”
two seconds pass…
“McKenna? Can I come into your crib, yes or no? Yes? Ok!”
Then massive giggles between the two as they play and proceed to throw everything in the crib onto the floor.
God do I love those girls.

>A whole year…
>Have I mentioned how far behind I am on stuff? Like really far behind. Like still working on printing my blog book from 2009. Like trying to do a few posts a day in the hopes of getting it done before 2010 closes and I’m another full year behind.
Anyhoo–I just imported a blog post from exactly a year ago today and it went a little something like this:
MOMMY GUILT5 weeks away from another total life change. Not just for us this time, but for Kennedy. I can handle whatever a new baby throws our way, but I worry if she can as well. I have convinced myself that she’s a toughie and that she will roll with the punches the way she has with everything else she’s encountered in her short 23 months with us. I hope I am right. With Bean, I counted down the days praying she would arrive as early as possible and still be healthy. I just couldn’t wait to meet her. This time, however, I’m much more patient. I hope that’s not a slam to the little one inside me, but I feel like I need to soak up every last second I have alone with Bean before her life is forever changed and she’s forced to share my love and affection. I agonize over every moment I have to yell at her and every tear shed from those baby blues. I don’t want any second of these last 5 weeks to be anything less than simply awesome. I’m not totally without perspective. She seems genuinely excited for a baby sister and I have no doubt that the joy of having each other as they grow up will far outweigh any negativity along the way. “The longest relationship you’ll have in your life is that of your siblings”. I’m incredibly thankful that John and I are lucky enough to be able to provide this opportunity for Kennedy. This coming from an only child who used to grill my parents to tell me the god’s honest truth about the twin sister they must have forgotten at the hospital…because it was just too cruel to let me go through my childhood all alone. But for the moment, I’m sitting at the computer thankful she’s finally asleep. Though not without tears in my eyes thinking of the ones that filled hers as she most likely passed out from the pure exhaustion of crying too hard as I left her alone in her room.
It’s so interesting looking back on how I felt about all this. I worried about absolutely nothing. McKenna has brought such joy to Kennedy’s life in the past 10 months (and vice versa). I could not have asked for a sweeter bond between the two sisters. It’s not lollipops and rainbows 24/7…but those few moments are far outweighed by the countless times of day Kennedy insists on giving McKenna a hug and a kiss (on the mouth), soothing her by whispering “it’s ok, McKenna, I’ll take care of you…” or by walking past her, stopping to turn around, hug her out of the blue and say “you’re my best friend McKenna, I love you.” Kennedy throws her toys in the backseat of the car when she thinks McKenna is bored and is always on the lookout for small objects she could choke on. McKenna can’t display as much, but it’s clear how much she adores her big sister by the way she cranks her neck in the car to just stare at every move Kennedy makes and will crawl across the floor like superwoman to tug on her leg and gaze up at her with pure love and awe.
How lucky they are. I pray they always cherish that relationship they way they do today.

>K-E-N-N-E-D-Y
>We’ve been having a hard time teaching Kennedy how to spell her name. I understand it’s not the easiest name in the world, but we really want her to know it! So I, being the amazing song writer I am [insert sarcasm here], came up with a little diddy to help her out. As you can see from the video below, it worked like a charm. Go team mom!
Oh, and for blog book purposes (and those of you who can’t make out what she’s singing), it goes a little something like this “K-e-n-n-e-d-y, that spells Kennedy, do you know why? K-e-n-n-e-d-y, that spells Kennedy, she’s quite fly!”
>Happy Mothers Day to….ME!
>It’s my first mothers day with both my girls and our finally complete family. Brunch up at the Hall of Springs, (where we were married over 5 years ago) was fabulous and both girls seemed to love it as much as me. Despite the winter like weather, we still got some decent pictures with me and the girls. It was nice to feel like the girls may have some pictures of their mom afterall since I rarely come out from behind the camera!
Oh yeah, and I can’t wait for nicer weather so I can try out my new hammock! Though John may be sorry he went that route since I may never leave it…
>A few more of my favorite things….
>I always try to keep a list on my handy dandy iphone of all of the things that happen in our household I vow to never forget. What I should really do is copy and paste half of my facebook status’ in here…hey–that’s what I’ll do. Humph. I’m a genius.
In an attempt to keep the Bean in bed tonight, I promised her a quarter if she stayed there. Her reply: “I want a quarter, a dime and a nickle. Cash money mom.” Whaaaaaaat?!April 21, 2010She’s standing. My “baby” is standing. By herself. That is all.April 10, 2010Loves those moments when life slows down for a moment and you look at your children and realize they are simply the most beautiful thing you’ve ever laid eyes on….and that you made that (with a little help from the Mister of course).April 8, 2010As if I needed another reason to adore the Mister of our house, he brings home cupcakes in celebration of Bean’s 1,000th day alive.March 22, 2010Despite our best efforts, the solid food thing isn’t going as well as we’d hoped…(March 21, 2010)Love is when you have piping hot homemade pizza waiting downstairs and yet can’t pry yourself from the sleeping child in your arms…March 20, 2010Bob: 1; Dania: down and out. Whew! (March 16, 2010)Just worked up a sweat getting the girls out the door. What does that say about my time management skills?March 12, 2010Happy Friday all…I’m gonna get me some pizza and beer and relax with my favorites. (March 3, 2010)
That should get us caught up for now, right? Thank god for Facebook status’ when Mommy fails miserably at keeping up the blog.
Addition: I didn’t need to create a whole new post for this, but didn’t want to exclude it. John and Kennedy are quite proud of their blue eyes and often shun us brown eye’d Bagyis. Kennedy’s new thing whenever I look “sad” is…
“mommy, are you sad you don’t have blue eyes like daddy and me?”
And is always asking John to “cheers blue eyes!”. It’s like flashbacks to middle school for me in not being part of the popular crowd, but I’m nonetheless happy her and daddy have such a cute bond.
>Bathtime Lovin’
>I have been waiting for a long time for these two to be able to play together in the tub. Thanks to the awesomeness that is the bath seat I found for McKenna, we can actually do this without fear tipping the little Boo over thanks to handsy mgee. I am working on a collage for the bathroom with some great pictures I’ve been able to snag over the past month or so. Here are a few of my favs…
>Bagyi Outtakes – Spring Edition
>We are all soooo happy the warm weather has finally (sorta) arrived. We are taking full advantage of it! Just a few from some of our recent outings. Oh yeah, and have I mentioned that McKenna has taken a few steps all by her lonesome?! I won’t call it officially walking until she is able to take those steps without it resulting in a full on spill, but I call it progress. She’ll be running by her birthday. I put money on it.
McKenna’s blurry spill after 3 steps forward…
>Better late than never?
>I am so thankful that my business has taken off the way it has, but that leaves little time for just about anything else! I am so far behind on my personal blog and feel like I’m doing my girls such a diservice by not paying better attention to it. I still haven’t completed the book for 2009 either. Boo hiss.
Anways, I’ve been meaning to get together some of the pictures from Easter and finally got around to it! So here ya go. Oh, and the pillow dresses are from Etsy and I love, love, loved them!
Easter baskets are kinda a big deal in our house…
>Where oh where oh where is my baby??
>Happy Birthday Daddy!
>Kennedy could not WAIT for John’s birthday. She was signing happy birthday for about a month before his actual birthday (and is still often singing to him). The celebration was spread over quite a few days, but we decided to give him his big present the weekend before his actual birthday since it was suppose to be a beautiful weekend. I’m not sure if it turned out to be as much of a present for him as it was for Bean! His actual birthday was spent on a beautiful 80 degree day in Saratoga. It included, drinks, food and a fun walk in Congress Park and soaking up as much sun and warmth as we could!
>Bailey Brown
>Our poor eldest rarely gets enough face time on the blog (and often in our real life as well), but she celebrated her 7th birthday on Saturday and so we had a little fun in the backyard that helped lift her somewhat sad spirit just a little…as did the annual MickyD’s happy meal we brought home for her this evening.
>Don’t cry over spilled milk….
>Isn’t that the saying your mother always used? Let’s just say it’s not an issue in our household. We should have known better when we thought we had a few quiet moments to finish our dinner while the girls laughed together through the gate separating the playroom from the family room. Ha. These quiet moments were quickly interrupted by Kennedy coming into the Kitchen to exclaim “Mommy! I poured milk on McKenna’s head!!”. And poured milk she did…
I guess the bright spot is that McKenna throroughly enjoyed her milk bath (and the regular one that soon followed) and maybe this will help in her hair production…or if not, at least make what little she has a bit more silky smooth.
>Bunny Times
>Despite Bean’s extreme (and I mean EXTREME) excitement about seeing the Easter Bunny today at brunch, when that poor creature emerged from the doorway, my fearless child practically leaped into her fathers arms and buried her head as far into his sweater as possible. She flat our refused to look at him let alone touch him. It was a very sad sight indeed and one I had no idea how to get her through….so we didn’t. We allowed her to be scared (all 2 years old get a pass) and we held her. On the way home she told us “next year I’ll make the easter bunny happy and I’ll sit on his lap…ok daddy?” So I guess there is always next year…
>Pretty Faces
>Spring has arrived!
>Well, at least for one day it did, official or not. Friday was fan-friggin-tastic. The ‘Piros and us hit up the Crossings (which was INSANELY busy) for a little playground fun and then found a quieter spot to settle down and have a picnic lunch while the girls spent what seemed like hours throwing rocks into the pond. The rest of us just hung out on the blankets and enjoyed soaking up the warm sun for a bit. I was actually quite sad to have to go home. I could have stayed there all day long. I cannot WAIT for this kind of weather to be here for good.
>Take a stroll with me…
>Willow Stables
>I know I posted a bunch of pictures from a picnic we attended at this amazing horse farm up in Saratoga last August. Good friends of ours purchased this farm a little over a year ago and have done an amazing job with the property and the business. I’m so happy they have found such an amazing opportunity to pursue their passion. We went up for a St. Patrick’s Day dinner there and Kennedy had the chance to ride on this adorable little cart pulled by “Trixie”. She made it clear that she was “too little to ride on her back” so she was content to sit on the cart. She could not have been happier!
>Mr. BOB
>Finally spring like weather and the first thing I wanted to do was get the girls out for a nice jog in my new fancy schmancy jogging stroller. Now for the heafty price tag, you’d think this thing should push itself. Mind you, the ride is smooth….but pushing a probably 20lb stroller plus another 40lbs in children, I made it about a mile before I was ready to collapse. The girls however thorougly enjoyed their ride…
>Pearly Whites
>For a kid that fights me on most things, she LOVES to brush her teeth and go to the Dentist. It’s so out of character for her, but she litterally beggs me to let her brush her teeth at least three times a day (now mind you, I’m not allowed to touch her toothbrush) so I figure since I’m not allowed to help, at least she’s getting in more than the required brushing so it all should equal out. Look how friggin’ happy she looks. I’m sure it helped to have a TV strapped to the light and coolcat sunglasses, but nonetheless…
>Look who’s crawling…
>Crazy right? Just crazy. She’s been popping up for a few weeks now, but finally just figured out how to go forward yesterday. You should see the look on her face when we praise her. She’s just so PROUD. She’s also already pulling herself up on any and everything she can reach (which is a lot more now). I think she’ll be walking long before her first birthday. And to think I thought there was a chance I’d get a calm one the second time around…
>Whoa
>ABCDEFG….
>Kennedy has been working hard on learning her letters and she’s doing a great job. I’ve been so impressed with how many she knows and that she can associate words with them! She’s also impressed with herself (this should come to no one’s surprise) and insists on showing off by bringing McKenna an M from her fridge magnets because it’s “M for McKenna!!” and carrying around her “K” all over the house. It’s too cute for words…
>Sooooooo Big
>Bed Raider
>Our little Artist
>Two weeks ago, John and I looked at each other somewhat embarrassed we couldn’t answer the simple question “can she draw a circle?” And today, she brought me this:
I have to say I was pretty damn impressed. Especially because she not only made this without any direction from me whatsoever, but also made a point of showing me the eyes, nose and mouth…and then asked me if I thought it was a scary mask.
I’m still a bit in awe. Maybe I’m clueless as to what a two and a half year old should be capable of, but I think this is pretty awesome regardless.
>Mini Shoot
>McKenna seemed bored staring at me after Kennedy went down for her nap so we did a little mini-session up in her room, which after yesterday, I realized was way underutilized for pictures. We only snapped a few good ones before the tears came (she was more tired than I thought), but I thought I’d share anyways.
>Bagyi Outtakes
>With my new business blowing up, I have had little time to devote to our personal blog. I am ashamed. This should be top one priority since this is what our girls will have to look back upon in their later years. Trying to keep afloat without falling behind has proven more difficult than I had thought. Hopefully now that the website and new business blog are complete, I’ll have more time on my hands…though I somewhat fear what spring will bring. No doubt I will be thanful for the business, but I hope I don’t regret jumping into this feet first when I find so little time to get all of the zillion things I have on my mental “to do” (I don’t like lists much to my husbands shagrin). Alas, here are some of the fun things we’ve been up to at the Bagyi Household the past few weeks.
